First Time Briefing of Planning for Zhenjiang Temple
DLAI China Director Mr. Yang Baolong accompanied by Zhenjiang Temple Abbot Kuan She in the national key cultural relics protection units - Zhang Hua Tai---the Archaeological Site of royal garden of Chu Kingdom.
March 1, 2011 to 6, DLAI was invited to Jingzhou city by Zhenjiang Temple to the location of Zhenjiang Temple to make field visits.On March 2, accompanied by Abbot Kuan She, DLAI team investigated the ancient city of Jingzhou, Jingzhou Museum, and Zhang Hua Tai---the Archaeological Site of royal garden of Chu Kingdom and Zhang Hua Temple.
On March 3,DLAI and Zhenjiang Temple set up a report team ,to report the preliminary planning of Zhenjiang Temple. The preliminary planning of Zhenjiang Temple was highly praised by local authorities of Religious Affairs, riverway bureau and Buhe town government .Secretary Liu Xiwen of National Religious Affairs Bureau highly praised for the overall planning concept of "Heaven Galaxy - pure water, Pure Land, pure heart"and “low-carbon, energy-saving, environmental friendly and ecological”, which has the view of international standards and forward-looking. According to DLAI Planning, the new temple will become a pearl of tourism on the south bank of Yangtze River Bridge.
In the next step of planning and design, DLAI team will combine the ancient Chu culture of Jingzhou and the unique location of Zhenjiang Temple and innovative planning and design skills to create a new modern green modern Buddhist monastery.
Note:
The temple history originated from General Yang Si--Dragon King Temple in the Southern Song Dynasty, the original site was on the northwestern shore of Dongting Lake, it was moved to the present location of south bank of Jingzhou Yangtze River Bridge in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. The famous gate of Jingjiang flood diversion is nearby the temple, where the appointed leaders of China, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao all visited for inspection.
Due to the construction of Jingzhou flood diversion gate, the original Zhenjiang Temple site was covered by embankment. The temple embrace the new opportunity of the establishment of New Jiangnan District of Jingzhou city. The current location of Zhenjiang Temple will be downtown in Great Jingzhou location in the future, like the location of Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai Pudong, the Abbor of Kuan She devoted all his life to rebuild the Temple.
The project ,with " conceptual planning and architectural design for the Ancient Buddhist Monastery in Three Gorges, China" and"World Peace Square" ，is DLAI charity action of planning launched in 2011.
